Ithaca Kitchen Cupboard...

The official name is "ACT Ithaca Kitchen Cupboard."  There are other Kitchen Cupboards, in Dryden and Newfield, for instance.  The Ithaca Kitchen Cupboard (IKC) is sponsored and run by Area Congregations Together (ACT), a group of twenty-four area churches and faith communities, including First Presbyterian.  That's how we're connected.

There is an IKC Committee, which meets regularly in the Ithaca Corps Center of the Salvation Army.  All donations are taken to the same building, where IKC has a room designated.  The room is set up like a store, with shelves neatly lining the walls and a huge refrigerator stocked with eggs, cheese, yogurt, and more.  There's also a freezer for frozen meats.  The shelves are stocked with canned and boxed food, bottled drinks, and even toiletries.  Most items are from donations, and any shortfalls are purchased with donated dollars.

The food pantry is open five days a week, from 1:30-3:00 p.m.  Volunteers from ACT member congregations take turns handing out a week's supply of food to eligible families.  Volunteers are always welcomed!
