Service is a core element of our youth groups at First Presbyterian Church. Each year, the congregation supports the youth in their missions efforts. Some past efforts the youth have undertaken include:
- Summer TOUR to Sandusky, OH (click here to see highlights from the trip).
- Service trip to Camp Whitman (click here for pictures).
- Broad Street Ministry in Pittsburgh, PA.
- JHAZ trip to Canandaigua, NY to work with children with special needs, as well as veterans in the local V. A. Hospital.
- Group Work camps to Lockport, NY; Bristol, TN; and Machias, ME.
- Service/Learning trips to Overlook Farm, operated by Heifer Project International.
- Flood relief trips throughout portions of New York's Southern Tier during the summer of 2006.
- Trip to New Orleans, working with a program called RHINO - "Rebuilding Hope In New Orleans."
To support these trips, the youth hold several fundraisers. Probably the most popular is the Madrigal Dinner - a delicious meal, followed by a concert from the Ithaca College Madrigal Singers. The Dinner takes place in mid-December each year. Another popular event (although not a fundraiser) is the annual Youth Report Dinner - another meal the youth host, at which they report to the congregation about their recent missions experiences.
