John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness

    The lower panel reads:  Thou shalt go before the Face of the Lord to prepare His ways to give light to them that sit in darkness & in the shadow of death and to guide our feet into the way of peace. (Luke 1:76b, 79)

    Mrs. Uri Clark gave this window as a memorial to her husband.  Usually known as "Colonel" (probably because of the usual militia service), he owned a 32-foot sailing yacht, the "Hattie Clark," said to be "the prettiest boat on the lake."  Mr. Clark was a jeweler and considered one of the leading merchants.  His shop was Clark and Wilson at 56 E. State Street, his home 61 E. Buffalo.  His wife gave not only the window but, earlier, the silver communion service.
